Stress, Organization & Holidays
The holidays are here - for good or bad. Last week, Sarah and I organized a chaotic sewing room to be a calm creative space. The client was ecstatic and is looking forward to having her daughter home and surprising her with the transformation.
Maybe you’re like her, excited to see family, enjoy time together and catch up on life. But it’s equally possible that you will be alone, have experienced a hard year or that your relationships are strained.
This season is often touted as “the happiest time of the year.” But, that is just not reality for many. Even when life seems to be good, December can be a tough month. We carry regret, loss, frustrations, and hard memories, not even realizing it until it smacks us in the face.
While organization might not be the main cause for distress, it certainly can add to it - and might be a symptom of a deeper issue. Studies confirm that there is a direct correlation between our physical environment and our mental well-being.
We would love to come alongside you and help work through the clutter, encouraging you along the way. But you also can take steps to work through your space on your own. Committing to 5 or 10 minutes every day to decluttering will make a bigger difference than you realize. Not only will you have a space that’s easier to manage, but you will enjoy your home more.
Organization might be helpful, but if sadness is a persistent companion, consider seeking professional help. There are so many good therapists who can help you move from out of the chaos and into calm. We work in your physical space, but it’s even more important to have someone who can help you in your emotional space.
