Why?!
“How did you get started in the home organization business?” which is a nicer way of saying, “Why in the world would anyone in their right mind want to spend their days rummaging around in someone else’s clutter?” It’s a valid question!
The short answer is that I love making a difference in the daily lives of people. There are days that are hard, frustrating, dirty, and even cringy, but seeing our clients’ responses at the end of the day is one of the most rewarding and satisfying feelings ever. Their stress has decreased. There is more light in their eyes. The relief is palpable. Calm has come out of the chaos.
Decluttering. Organizing. I love bringing order where it was lacking. I’ve always loved houses - creating homes for my Barbies, drawing my dream house, and later on, collecting bins and baskets for all the belongings in my apartment or new home.
Now, I get to go to my clients’ homes and bring organization to closets, offices, pantries, kitchens, and more. It’s a privilege to be entrusted with someone’s home. The initial embarrassment and hesitation begins to melt away as our non-judgmental, compassionate approach makes the decluttering and organizing process tolerable during the work. By the end of a session, the feeling of freedom is all they remember. Whether it’s unpacking and organizing a new home, packing up a home for a move, or decluttering and organizing a well lived-in kitchen or closet, I aim to focus on giving my clients a calm space that will enable them to live their life well.
On a different level, my WHY revolves around my people. Owning my own business has enabled me to spend time with family, provide for my daughter’s college expenses, and help my assistants (busy moms who need flexible schedules) have some extra income. As the business grows, I hope to be able to fund some fun travel with my husband. I’m so grateful to have found an industry where I feel fulfilled in so many ways…even in the midst of cobwebs, dust and an occasional dead bug or two.
